This was my fifth trip with Megalithomania, and it truly did not disappoint. Cambodia is endlessly magical, and experiencing its temples through this lens makes them feel alive, not just as historic sites, but as places of deep intention, symbolism, and ancient intelligence. The itinerary was beautifully curated, from the stunning temples to the serene, comfortable hotel that felt like a true retreat after long days of exploration. The food was excellent throughout, adding to the sense of being well cared for on every level. What makes these trips especially meaningful, though, is the community, Megalithomania attracts curious, open minded people who are genuinely interested in alternative perspectives on ancient history, which leads to rich conversations, shared wonder, and a feeling that this is more than a tour, it’s a shared journey of discovery. Five trips in, I can say with confidence that each one deepens the experience, and this Cambodia trip was no exception.

Exploring the remains of ancient civilizations is always a treat however when one can literally walk on the same ground, roam through rooms of wonders and get in touch with the craftsmanship the experience is even more wonderful.

Not what I expected. No ancient discussions. Communication between italian guide and traveller's very poor, guidance on physical difficulty rating of walks completely erroneous and time management of daily schedule abysmal due to extremely poor management by guide e.g. planned day meant to end 6pm but didn't get back to hotel until 7.45pm when there were no unavoidable incidents or delays. Hugh Newman was there but may as well not have been. Other than temple ruins and religious context dated to 1100ad to 1200ad there was nothing else. I opted out of 2 of the 6 days to do my own thing. Considering this the cost of the trip was very high. I would recommend Cambodia as a destination, lovely locals and very cheap, but give this trip a miss.

.Wow! Cambodia is a wondrous and enchanted kingdom! It's people are so friendly and helpful. Even the large bustling towns feel safe and welcoming. And once You venture into the jungles the magic is overwhelming! Buddhist and Hindu temples emerge from the vines and Kapok tree roots and Hanuman's monkey army leap over the the beautifully carved stone work. You can be blessed by a Buddhist monk and then dive into a natural pool, at the base of a waterfall sanctified by 1000 Shiva-Linga! And if You go with 'Megalithomania' You will do it all in the company of the most weird-and-wonderful odd-balls on this earth! Not least among them, Your genial host ( "the Cambridge educated!!") Mr Hugh Newman....what an awesome guy, and the ever-lovey 'Megalitho-Maiden Miss JJ Ainsworth. Thanks guys, You're the greatest.
